We already have a partial nationwide ID and look what has happened to it.

It is being used in uncontrolled situations and transcations all over the nation.

It was never meant to be like that, but when the government sits back and allows it to be abused continuously since its inception, what makes anyone think a new ID will fare any better.

And just like all other efforts to thwart theft, the thieves will get past any new hurdle very rapidly.
